The journey of Monty’s from a small, family run start up to an established enterprise, exporting beer across the world, is a fast paced and exciting tale.
It was in June 2008 that the first seeds were sown by Pam and Russ Honeyman, owners of Monty’s Brewery. Over a quiet pint and Sunday lunch they pondered, ‘Shall we build a brewery?
Soon after, Pam was off to Brewlab at Sunderland University, returning back with a plan and a recipe.
It was January 2009 when the first casks were produced. It was only the third brew before Monty’s Sunshine started to get recognition winning its first award at the ‘Darlington Spring Thing CAMRA Beer Festival’ and is still in demand today.
The old cliché that the rest is history is well deserved here. With lots of recipes, seasonal and special brews, and a style to suit all palates. Monty’s has grown from strength to strength with all of their beers, winning awards whether national or international. Well known for their traditional beers, they came to prominence in Wales and beyond with their gluten free range particularly Dark Secret their gluten free oatmeal stout.
Montys package all their beers on site at their facility in Mid Wales near the historic market town of Montgomery. Whether cask, keg, bottle or can you can be assured of the highest quality. Monty’s achieved SALSA Plus Beer for the last 7 years so you know the quality will be top notch!
