Brecon Brewery

Brecon Brewing was founded in 2011 by Buster Grant, one of Wales’ best known brewers – with a background including an MSc in Brewing & Distilling from the prestigious Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh and training at Brakspear’s in Henley, he was also the National Chairman of SIBA – the Society of Independent Brewers – in 2017 and 2018.

In 2018, Brecon Brewing joined forces with Cold Black Label based in Brynmenyn. In 2019, the brands from Lithic Brewing were acquired following the closure of this small craft brewery located just to the east of Brecon. Working with Lithic’s founder, the brewing was moved to the new brewing facility at Brynmenyn.

A huge number of awards have been collected by Brecon Brewing, for cask, keg and bottled beers. The lockdowns of 2020 have allowed for huge growth in the number of beers being produced, with 17 different beers in regular production, as well as 5 bespoke ciders. These range from the more traditional styles through contemporary IPAs and innovative highly flavoured beers to the awesome and infamous Mind Bleach family of 10% IPAs!

With a 10Hl and a 50Hl Brew-houses, we can be very versatile, and the addition of SALSA plus Beer Accreditation ensures consistent quality. The current times have also seen significant investment in the brewery with the addition of 6-head CODI counter-pressure canning line, additional tanks, upgrades to kegging facilities and plans for new bottling line. A significant factor in this was the winning of the contract to supply the WRU – Welsh Rugby Union – as their official partner in 2020 – out innovative approach of creating exclusive WRU branded beers looks set to become the benchmark for future arrangements of this nature. Our partnership with the iconic Green Man music festival continues to grow, both at the festival itself and via their mail order service.
